Valve is offering gamers the chance to download its entire 22 game back catalogue via Steam for $99 ($70).

The offer includes Valve's upcoming zombie shooter Left 4 Dead, which is released on Friday, November 21.

Valve: Complete Pack contains all of the Half-Life titles as well as the critically-acclaimed Portal game and multiple other shooters and death match expansions.

Individually, the titles would cost $235 (£158), with Left 4 Dead alone contributing a large part of the sum.

'Halo 3 Recon' to be open-world title

Azrial

Halo 3 Recon will contain an open-world city landscape and play like a detective TV show, according to developers Bungie.

US magazine Game Informer has revealed details about the upcoming title, which plays alongside the events of Halo 2 and against the backdrop of Ground Zero of Earth City New Mombasa, reports CVG.

Players will control a rookie Orbital Drock Shock Trooper as he attempts to discover the whereabouts of the other four members of his team.

Once gamers locate their team member, they play a flashback level through the other person's eyes in the "traditional" Halo style.

"It works just like any detective show, Cold Case or Law and Order or whatever, where a detective can arrive at a crime scene, look at the chalk drawings and bullet holes and see what's going on.

"He hears some echoey voices and the camera crossfades and now you're at the scene of the crime two hours ago," said Bungie creative developer Joseph Staten.

Rare: Our future games will be surprising

Microsoft-owned Rare Studios has revealed that its future products and titles will "surprise a lot of people".

Speaking to Games Industry, studio manager Mark Betteridge said that part of the developer's mission is to "change the conventional thinking [about] games and entertainment".

"I don't see us fighting the same battles as everybody else," he explained. "I think some of the products we'll do going forward will surprise a lot of people, both in terms of what they are and the different styles."

Betteridge also pointed out that Rare's recently-released Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts marks "a twist on an established genre".

"That theme of doing something new with gameplay runs through everything we're doing going forward - whether that's how you play the game, [or] how you interface with the game," he said.

Left 4 Dead demo hints at new Team Fortress 2 class

Azrial

Most of you have probably been enjoying Valve's upcoming survival FPS Left 4 Dead, and rightly so! It's fantastic so far and I cannot wait to pick up my copy launch day.

Kotaku reader Srider has found a rather fascinating Easter egg from the L4D demo that hints at a possible 10th class in Team Fortress 2 (The Orange Box). The back of the cereal box advertises free TF2 action figures with the cereal and that there are 10 to collect. There are currently only 9 classes in TF2 so this can only mean a new class is on the way!

While this is all still rumour, it's not unusual for Valve to do this. Previous extra weapons and such have been hinted in their "Meet the" videos and it would be a very weird mistake for Valve to make. Nothing has been confirmed or denied nor will be know if this will come to the console version of TF2.

The first and second announcements were the Burnout: Paradise Party edition and the hover car respectively, both of which have been confirmed for release in 2009, alongside the toy cars.

Capcom has announced a February release date for the console version of Street Fighter IV.

The long-awaited beat-em-up sequel will land in North America on February 17, and Europe a few days later on February 20. It was previously announced that the PC version will be delayed, with a release date for this platform still pending.

Street Fighter IV, which will arrive on PS3 and Xbox 360, will feature online multiplayer and characters exclusive to the console release. A version with regular packaging and a limited collector's edition will both be available.

360 closes in on original Xbox

Microsoft has revealed that 360 sales are expected to surpass that of the original Xbox by the end of November.

According to Edge Online, Microsoft's entertainment & devices division CFO Mindy Mount told a conference: "By the end of this month, we expect our global installed base to reach 25 million units, surpassing that of the first Xbox."

Mount also suggested that the figure will rise significantly as three quarters of lifetime console sales are achieved once a machine is priced below $200.

360 console sales have risen 62% in Europe, 42% in the US and 500% in Japan since Microsoft's September price cuts.

'GTA' releases possibly delayed

Both the Grand Theft Auto IV expansion and Chinatown Wars could see delays into next year, it has been revealed.

The Grand Theft Auto IV expansion will be downloadable content exclusive for Xbox 360 and was expected this month, whereas DS title Chinatown Wars was supposed to be released early next year.

However, Take 2 CEO Strauss Zelnick has stated that both could see delays, with the DLC possibly moving into next year and Chinatown Wars delayed until April, according to MTV Multiplayer.

He said: "The DLC is close to being complete. That said, it may move into the second quarter. Downloadable content is a big undertaking. It is important to be really special."

Grand Theft Auto IV has sold over ten million copies worldwide.

'Halo 3 Recon' 3-5 hours long

Azrial

Image

Forthcoming Xbox 360 standalone expansion Halo 3 Recon will be three to five hours long, it has been revealed.

The standalone expansion to 2007's Halo 3 will be shorter than previous Halo titles and will have a budget price, according to Game Informer.

There is also speculation that the game will unlock the rare Recon armour for Halo 3, providing that the player has all three Vidmaster achievements.

Halo 3 Recon is a new campaign set before the events of Halo 3, playing as ODST troopers fighting Covenent forces on Earth.

The expansion will be released late next year.
