Halo 3 Recon will contain an open-world city landscape and play like a detective TV show, according to developers Bungie.
US magazine Game Informer has revealed details about the upcoming title, which plays alongside the events of Halo 2 and against the backdrop of Ground Zero of Earth City New Mombasa, reports CVG.
Players will control a rookie Orbital Drock Shock Trooper as he attempts to discover the whereabouts of the other four members of his team.
Once gamers locate their team member, they play a flashback level through the other person's eyes in the "traditional" Halo style.
"It works just like any detective show, Cold Case or Law and Order or whatever, where a detective can arrive at a crime scene, look at the chalk drawings and bullet holes and see what's going on.
"He hears some echoey voices and the camera crossfades and now you're at the scene of the crime two hours ago," said Bungie creative developer Joseph Staten.
