As part of Capcom's recent announcement explosion, it has been revealed that Lost Planet 2 will be collaborating with Microsoft to incorporate characters from Gears of War. The strange meeting of minds will see Marcus and Dom from the brawny shooter series appear as playable beefcakes in Capcom's alien-exploding sequel. Isn't that nice? As you know, a release date has also been revealed, with Lost Planet 2 scheduled to hit worldwide consoles on May 18. It'll release for both Xbox 360 and PS3, although it's fair to say that the PS3 version probably won't be welcoming Gears of War characters so wholeheartedly. Perhaps the PS3 will get its own unique characters, but nothing's been said so far. It has also been said that people who pre-order the game in the US get Wesker from RE5, so maybe he will be included as standard as well here in the UK.

The development of Star Wars Battlefront III has been rocky, to say the least. Work began at Free Radical before Crytek snapped up the company, then the game was rumored to be in Rebellion's care before it eventually dropped from the face of the earth. Meanwhile Pandemic, the recently shuttered studio behind the first two games, apparently had nothing to do with the title at all. The latest rumor, courtesy of Kotaku, puts development of a brand new Battlefront project, entitled Star Wars Battlefront: Online, in the hands of Slant Six Games and LucasArts. Slant Six is the studio behind several games in the SOCOM tactical-shooter series, making it a reasonable candidate for a Battlefront developer. The game will reportedly arrive in 2011 on PS3 and Xbox 360. It will focus on online play and, presumably, Star Wars. According to Kotaku, Star Wars Battlefront: Online is also the source of the Star Wars Battlefront III casting rumors

Activision has announced Sledgehammer Games, a newly formed studio led by former Visceral Games executives Glen A. Schofield and Michael Condrey, will develop a new Call of Duty title that will "extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre." The publisher also confirmed it will release another Call of Duty title in 2011, but it's unclear as of now if this is the same title Sledgehammer is currently developing. This leaves the door open for another studio, possibly Infinity Ward, to develop the 2011 title. We've asked Activision for clarification.

Developers of the first Test Drive Unlimited Eden Games are back on board, and it marks its first effort since the divisive Alone in the Dark. 2006's Test Drive Unlimited offered a gloriously open-ended take on the Hawaiian island of O'ahu that blended offline and online play, though the ambition wasn't quite met by the execution and the game racked up an 8.0.

Quote: Datel Design & Development, a maker of memory units for Microsoft's Xbox 360, has filed an antitrust suit against Microsoft over its moves to prevent the U.K.-based company's products from working with the game console. The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in San Francisco, says Microsoft is unfairly favoring its own Xbox 360 accessories by disabling the functionality of competing technologies.
Microsoft announced last month that a software update would block unauthorized memory units from working with the console. The move was ostensibly meant to crack down on cheating enabled by unauthorized memory units -- including a Datel unit that uses removable MicroSD cards -- but it also drew complaints from gamers over the price that Microsoft charges for its own memory units.

... Shocking Truths Uncovered? Quote: It seems like one of the chaps over at Neowin.net has uncovered a few juicy bits of information coming from http://xbox.sky.com in all the XML data that feeds the Sky Player.
